We are always in a rush. Always trying to do more, achieve more, and fit more into each day.

During this lockdown, we have been constantly juggling work-from-home, house work, kids’ online schooling and other chores. Days blur into one another and it’s been a number of months since anyone has taken a proper vacation or even a break of a few days.

In the long run, this constant haste and stress in our lives is bound to do us more harm than good. In fact, stress is the primary cause of most of the health disorders in today’s world. And in an era of quick-fixes, we never really care to get to the root cause of any concern. We simply quieten the noise in our heads by bingeing on unhealthy food, remaining addicted to our devices, sleeping at odd hours and living what is fashionably called the ‘high-life’.

This pandemic has presented us with the rare opportunity to disconnect with the world and connect with our ‘Inner Self’. ‘If you can’t go OUT, go IN’.

To truly get to know your own ‘SELF’, it’s important to schedule a few hours in the week for some good quality ME-time. Here are some ways to relish time in your own company:

- Digital Detox: Try to consciously stay away from your smart phone, tablet, laptop, television and even fitness trackers for a few hours every day;

- Meditate: Spend some time each day sitting still in a comfortable posture with your back straight and the mind focused on the rhythm of your breathing.

- Awaken your Inner Chef: Cooking or baking for pleasure can be extremely therapeutic. Look in your fridge and kitchen cupboards, and then find an exciting new recipe that uses the ingredients you’ve got on hand.

- Connect with Nature: Get as close to nature as possible even if it is just walking in a nearby park or nurturing a kitchen garden. Try to observe the different forms of life, spend a few moments bathing in the morning sun, plan a weekend hike.

- Pamper yourself: : Go for a massage, apply a mask, take a relaxing hot water bath or just order in a meal from your favourite restaurant.

-Learn something new: Challenge yourself to spend time and learn something new – a foreign language, a musical instrument, baking, art etc.

When you make time for yourself, you find the stress and worries of life slowly melting away. And amidst the chaos of the world outside, you begin to feel steady, composed and ready for whatever life brings your way. And that is what we call living #FutureFearless.
